What is a Highlight Reel
Basically, Reels are like TikTok videos but on Instagram/Facebook. These are short clips (from 15 to 90 seconds) with audio, music, and visual effects (filters, stickers, overlaid texts, and the like). According to the official press release, the feature “allows people to express themselves” through creating entertaining clips whether it is a dancing tutorial or a personal diary about your Roman holiday. This means you need to keep your audience stays engaged. Think of your highlight reel as a way to create a first impression and to get the word out about what you are selling. You have a very small time frame to do this in so what clips you shoot and choose really matter.
Features include captions, creative editing tools and the Instagram music library
Reels can be created natively on Instagram or uploaded via third-party video apps
Beyond the Reels tab, videos can be published to your primary Instagram Feed. They can also show up in the Facebook newsfeed.
Why are highlight reels more popular than other posts
Reels are extremely flexible in how they can be shared among audiences, making them much more versatile than feed posts. Users can easily share Reels with friends via Stories, and discover Reels on the Explore page, as the Instagram algorithm continues to favor this content format over others
